All gifts
to St. Scholastica Academy perpetuate the high-quality education for young
women that flourish at SSA. Our goal is
to provide for the long-term stability of the Academy with all types of gifts.
Ways of
Giving to SSA
Unrestricted Gifts Unrestricted
gifts may come in the form of outright cash gifts to the Academy or through
planned gifts and will be designated as determined by the school leadership.
Annual Giving Keep the Promise is designed to take a fine education and make it exceptional
by providing resources and experiences that truly do make a
difference. It is not designed to keep the lights on and heat
in the buildings; its immediate objective is to underwrite the ambitious goals
of our five-year strategic plan Innovation, Purpose and Promise which
is paving the way for SSA to become the best school in the Gulf South.
Honor/Memorial Gifts These are
gifts of any amount given 1) in memory of loved ones and friends or 2) to honor
family, friends or business associates on special occasions such as birthdays,
baptisms, anniversaries or graduations.
Planned Gifts Planned
gifts are deferred gifts that allow donors to make an investment in SSA’s future
by including the Academy in wills and through life insurance policies, trusts,
securities and IRA accounts.
Named Endowed Scholarships Named
endowed scholarships are established to commemorate a deceased loved one or to
honor a living person or family provide a lasting tribute to the ones they
honor. The principal remains secure
while the annual interest income provides assistance for deserving SSA students
and their families. The base funding
requirement for a named endowed scholarship is $10,000 and is payable over a
period of time.
Endowment Fund Gifts These gifts help provide for long-term financial stability. The investment's
earnings produced spendable income for the school. Earnings that are not used
are applied to the principal in order to keep the fund growing. In keeping
with good fiscal planning, 10% of all funds raised through major fund raisers are allocated to this
growing endowment.
The Endowment Fund was created in the early 90's and is
managed by the Catholic Foundation of New Orleans. It was established to secure
the financial future of the Academy by supporting operations, capital improvements
and repairs. It is a powerful tool to help provide the school with an
additional source of annual revenue and enables SSA to remain competitive and
keep its high academic standards. By directing money to the Academy’s
endowment, we are not only being good stewards of our money, but insuring the
future of St. Scholastica for years to come.
The Centennial
Fund - Capital Campaign Established in 1997 to secure the
future of our St. Scholastica Academy community and to generate the resources
necessary for SSA to advance its mission of educational excellence for our
young women to assume the leadership roles of tomorrow. It offered an
opportunity to insure that the values of our Benedictine tradition of prayer,
work, study and community would be available for generations to come. It was
about commitment to our Master Site Plan born of deep gratitude, heartfelt
appreciation, and true faithfulness to the legacy of leadership our graduates
live every day.
St. Scholastica Academy is now in preparation to launch the school's new
capital campaign to complete the next phase of the Master Site Plan. It is
important to remember that the focus of the campaign is not only on the
improvement of the facilities, but on the benefits to our students that these
facilities will provide through educational expansion and opportunities in
academics, spiritual growth, the arts, and extra-curricular activities.
